SecondMarket
What they do:
SecondMarket is a secondary market for illiquid, restricted, and alternative investments–for example, shares of private companies, bankruptcy claims, mortgage-backed securities, collateralized debt obligations, and much more. Buyers get liquidity and sellers can find unique investments. It’s a win-win situation for both parties.
Why it’s cool:
SecondMarket’s independent marketplace provides both pricing transparency and asset transparency–buyers and sellers can follow the bidding process, and understand the implications of their decisions. SecondMarket provides liquidity to sellers who would have few options otherwise.
