GMAT course upgrade: A new way to watch on-demand classes

We’re really excited to announce another big upgrade to our GMAT course! On top of the recent improvements we made to our content and reporting (oh yeah, and a brand new CAT), we are now rolling out a new on-demand class experience to all of our students.

Over the last few months, we heard from students that viewing classes on demand was giving them some trouble, so we created a custom video player to make some sweet improvements:

  • Improved layout: You get a bigger lesson area for easier viewing.
  • Easy navigation: A new progress tab lets you jump from section to section as you watch.
  • Even more help: A team teaching display gives you two Knewton teachers instead of one!

The first video we’ve released is Sentence Correction 1. You’ll find it marked with an asterisk (*) in the on-demand drop down menu. The rest of your lessons will become available in the new format in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

Check out the first lesson and let us know what you think by following the link to our survey from the video player! You can also watch the video below to get a sneak peak at one of these classes in action:

This is also the first feature of the course we created with mobile devices in mind, so the new video player is fully functional for those of you with iPads out there! Let us know your feedback and ideas, and watch this space for continued improvements!

It’s no better than the previous one. We need something like where students can buffer the video and see the video without any disturbance in video. In countries like India internet speed is not good so people prefer buffering that video before watching without any problem..

Hi Shurti – sorry to hear you’re having trouble buffering the videos. We’ve heard similar feedback from other students too, so we’re working to find a way to solve the issue really soon.

I think we lost the ability to listen to the questions that other students ask. Those questions are many a times helpful and we may also have it.

I liked the older format much better.

This added format will be so helpful for those who depend on demand to watch lessons. Further, they will serve as a more advantageous study tool for those who refer back to the videos for a refresher. I have often found it frustrating while trying to find specific demand material to review, such as probability. Great Job.

I like the new format. It’s a cleaner design. The most important thing is that the video plays on iPad. The old version does not. I hope Knewton makes the new version available for all classes as soon as possible. I liked playing the video on the iPad better than on the laptop.

I am unable to play new on demand video of Session 3, SC1 by “David Ingber, Jen Rugani *” due to technical problem…. seems to be buffering issue.

I love the new on demand classes. They are great. I also like the idea of having two teachers explaining concepts. Thank you

This is awesome. I don’t prefer looking at my laptop at home because that’s what i do all day at office, so this thing comes as a great advantage for people like me..please post as many on-demand videos as possible. sooner the better..I am eagerly waiting …

I can say i have watched every single format, from live classes, ondemand live classes and now the new version of the on demand. I really enjoy the new ondemand version but still feel the live classes are helpful as well. When taken as a whole (both live and ondemand) I really feel they have helped me prepare for the GMAT. Which i am taking today.

Also since i can watch them on the iPad, rewind and the glitches are gone those are all MAJOR plus’s as well.

Thanks for the great feedback, Taylor — and good luck on the GMAT today!

The Verbal sessions are fantastic but the Maths ones may need to be redone as I feel they are too long, sometimes have strong back ground noise, unnecessary pauses. Also the flow does not really work out as best as it was with David and Jen for Verbal. I hope this feedback is useful …. I should say a big Thanks to the team of Knewton for putting together these videos .. The format rock !!!

  • Xiaojing

Is there a way to view the old version? I cannot view the new one as the internet speed in country other than U.S. is not fast enough…

    • http://www.knewton.com Knewton Team

      Hi Xiaojing,

No, there isn’t a way to view the old version. However, the new on-demand player was designed for both slow and fast internet speeds, so you shouldn’t have a problem! I’d recommend going to our tech check page to see if there are any other problems with your computer that might be affecting your video experience. http://www.knewton.com/tech-check

The on demand player was built with our international students in mind — we’ve actually heard from lots of non-U.S. students that the clarity and speed of the videos are a lot better on the new player! Hopefully the tech check page will help clear up your problem, but leave us another comment if you still have questions! :)
