Just a short high speed rail ride from the new Knewton London HQ is the Paris office of Gutenberg Technology, a leading French edtech startup. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Gutenberg Technology will be integrating the Knewton API into MyEbookFactory 5.0, a cross-content publishing platform for digital textbooks. With this partnership we’re helping publishers deliver personalized learning across any mobile device. See details in the official announcement.
Founded in 2009, Gutenberg Technology recently announced its $6.5M Series B round, centered on the continued development of MyEBookFactory 5.0. Think of MyBookFactory 5.0 as an easy way for learning companies to push-button publish to all your favorite mobile platforms: iOS, HTML5, Android, and Windows 8. Publishers like Pearson, Hatier, and Lelivrescolaire already use Gutenberg Technology to deliver digital textbooks to tens of thousands of students across Europe.
We want to make it simple for publishers of all sizes to deliver Knewton personalized learning to students and teachers. For publishers looking to deliver a mobile or tablet application, Gutenberg Technology offers a compelling push-button solution — and now with Knewton can also provide students and teachers with an adaptive experience. Directly within these apps, publishers can enable both personalized content recommendations for what to study next and real-time predictive analytics that detect gaps in knowledge.
To date, Knewton has partnered directly with many of the world’s leading educational publishers, including Pearson, Cambridge University Press, Macmillan, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and more. These direct integrations require both software engineering and subject-matter-expert resources from our partners. But that’s not the only way we can work with partners. Gutenberg Technology is a pioneer — the first eBook producer to make Knewton adaptivity available for their customers with the flick of a switch. We’re together eliminating the hurdle of technical Knewton API integration for current and future Gutenberg Technology customers. These types of integrations are possible with content delivery platforms, like LMSs or Gutenberg’s MyEBookFactory 5.0, and will help more content owners deliver Knewton adaptive courses more easily.
Keep your eyes peeled for our first release with Gutenberg Technology in early 2014: Lelivrescolaire’s French grammar iPad app. Soon other publishers who work with Gutenberg Technology to turn content into interactive eBooks will be able to enable Knewton-powered personalization within their content. If you’re interested in delivering a Knewton-powered course via Gutenberg Technology, or integrating your own platform or app directly with Knewton, please get in touch.
