Ultimately, the entire package matters (GMAT, work experience, application essays, interviews, recommendations, and undergraduate GPA). Since you are applying for business school, work experience is extremely important. Upon enrollment, the average amount of work experience for each student is approximately 5 years, which is fairly substantial and on the higher end for top MBA programs.
You should also consider the brand of the school. Duke boasts an open-minded and collaborative culture and is more interdisciplinary in its approach. In this sense, your demonstrated ability to function productively in groups is very important. You should be prepared to articulate (both in the application and during the interview) how you have led a group of people to achieve certain aims, worked to achieve consensus between groups, or mentored and coached others in the past. Because of its ties to Duke’s exceptional medical school, Duke Fuqua is ideal for those interested in health care and related fields.
I hate to say it, but Knewton has rendered every other test prep company totally obsolete.
