Content Developer

Are you a mathlete? Grammar geek? Logic whiz? Do you love solving problems, and (most importantly) can you explain the answers to them so clearly that any 8th grader could understand?

If you answered an emphatic "Yes!" to these questions, you should be a Content Developer at Knewton. Content Devs create and edit all of the content in Knewton's online courses. They produce:

  • games and quizzes that gauge knowledge of core academic concepts
  • test-like questions (GMAT, LSAT, SAT, and MCAT) for homework and practice tests
  • lessons for students in our online classroom
  • text, audio, and video content for use throughout our courses

Content Developers also serve as TAs during live classes, answering student questions via chat while an instructor teaches on camera.

Candidates must have:

  • exceptional intelligence (especially math and/or logical reasoning skills)

Manager, Paid Search Marketing

Primary Job Responsibilities

Manager, Paid Search Marketing is responsible for leading customer acquisition and revenue growth through SEM (paid search). Will lead test and target efforts to improve online metrics for customer conversion. SEO and Email experience a BIG plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Execution of customer acquisition and revenue strategy
  • Supervising SEM marketing agency and search engine relationships
  • Reporting and analyzing acquisition metrics and profitability

Job Requirements

The right candidate should have extensive experience in bid management for Paid Search and executing a multi-channel marketing campaigns to achieve branding and performance targets. Product Manager

We seek a creative and business-minded professional to be a Product Manager for product development team. The Product Manager will work directly for the Vice President of Product Development and will be a key player in identifying and collecting business requirements, creating business cases and project documents, managing projects, and managing features on an ongoing basis. This person will work closely with marketing, academics, multimedia, design, technology and executive teams to develop and manage product, program and feature development. The role requires consideration for long-term product quality and customer satisfaction, and calls for an individual with entrepreneurial drive and extraordinary flexibility to meet the demands at a high-energy start-up.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the business issues and technical challenges and collaborate with teams to capture requirements for projects
  • Work with your manager to prioritize projects among competing opportunities, balance customer needs with business priorities, and articulate rationale behind decisions
  • Create revenue and cost models for product initiatives
  • Identify internal and external customer needs, generate requirements documents, prioritize and manage projects
  • Partner with internal clients such as academic, marketing, technology, and executive teams to meet their product needs
  • Conduct external customer interviews for requirements gathering and customer insight
  • Manage product programs and features on an ongoing basis
  • Monitor competition and evaluate our positioning in the context of the markets we serve
  • Define, analyze, track and improve key product metrics

Requirements

  • BS/BA or equivalent, MBA a plus

Software Engineering Manager

At Knewton, a software engineering manager is equal parts consultant, coach and coder. As a consultant, a manager must help define, refine and translate business needs for the development team. As a coach, a manager must facilitate learning for all members of the team; the manager must let people know where they've made mistakes and work to improve without being punitive. As a coder, a manager must have excellent habits that serve as an example for all engineers on the team. These aspects must be grounded in a drive to improve the basic metrics of the business while consistently improving our capabilities for future delivery.

The manager will lead one of our Web Development teams responsible for: our test prep student sites, our content manager site or our teacher site.

We're looking for an engineer or applied scientist with experience implementing data mining and machine learning systems to help build an innovative online education system that adapts to each individual student.

What we need from you:

SAT Prep Telesales Consultant

We're looking to expand our telesales team with a exceptional individual who is willing to "roll up their sleeves" and help us build a scalable operation for the future.

Our phone sales are the result of trial-to-paid lead generation follow up opportunities. We are looking for highly motivated and bright representatives who can facilitate engaging and detailed conversations about our educational products in a very consultative manner. This position would involve initially calling our trial customers to convert and then ultimately managing the operation while we build the telesales channel. This is not a cold calling but does require effective lead qualification and sales expertise.

The ideal candidate has been a successful telesales representative in the past, is willing to perform a lot of the calling in the preliminary phases and has experience managing a telesales team. Experience in setting up technological processes and systems a big plus (Salesforce, VOIP telephony, etc). Understanding of sales script development and refinement, messaging and best practices is also important.

Responsibilities:

  • Make sales calls to inquiring students
  • Help hone sales techniques and scripts
  • Improve operational workflow and build out technology with CRM and telephony
  • Manage team of sales agents, assist with planning and hiring for new agents as necessary
  • Work with Director of Test Prep and management team to develop proper reporting metrics

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a top four-year university
  • 1-3 years of sales experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, proactive, enthusiastic and results-driven
  • Proven track record for exceeding goals
  • Proven ability to develop and qualify lead opportunities that can support the sales channel pipeline
  • A strong team player, able to assist other members meet their potential while being a strong individual contributor
  • Experience working within sales teams and understanding of the sales processes
  • Strong attention to detail; good listener; good organizational skills
  • Great capacity for working autonomously and meeting deadlines
  • Experience in the education field and/or test prep (GMAT, LSAT, SAT, ACT, GRE) a plus
