Knerds on the Board: Markov Chains

Posted in Knerds on October 3, 2013 by

In this blog series, we’ll feature different Knerds explaining problems, concepts, equations, and projects that pertain to their work at Knewton.

Here at Knewton, we live and breathe statistics (we even have a stats club!). In this video, data science intern, Sophie Chou explains Markov Chains, a mathematical system that refers to any “memoryless” process where the next state depends only on the current state, not the past state(s).  The system has many statistical real-world applications, in fields as diverse as economics, finance, sports, and gaming.

If you love thinking about Markov Chains as much as we do, be sure to check out our careers page. You’d also probably love geeking out on our tech blog, N Choose K.
