Introducing 10 New Knerds

Originally from Toronto, Emma Griffiths joins Knewton’s UK office as a partnership manager. Emma attended University of Toronto and spent a year at the University of Bologna. Her hobbies include travel, yoga, cooking, and reading (a few of her favorite books are The Goldfinch, A Fault in Our Stars, and A Visit from the Goon Squad).

New IT engineer Bryan Long originally hails from Baltimore, MD. He is an alum of New York University and Stevens Institute of Technology, and previously worked in Mac IT consulting. His favorite TV shows are Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and Iryu. If he could time-travel, he’d go back to witness the fall of the Roman Empire or the 1936 Berlin Olympics. His favorite fast food chain is Schnippers.

Paul Sastrasinh joins Knewton as a software engineer. Originally from New Jersey, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brown. He also spent two years as a PhD student in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University, doing research on large data computer vision. His hobbies include reading (his favorite book is Name of the Wind) and photography. KFC is his favorite fast food chain.

Iftach Konshtok is a recent graduate of the City College of New York. He joins Knewton as a systems engineer. His favorite seasons are spring and fall, and his hobbies include traveling, basketball, swimming, and watching movies (favorites include The Usual Suspects, The Bourne series, and The Pursuit of Happyness). Left-lane huggers are his biggest pet peeve.

Celik Sismanturk joins Knewton as a systems engineering intern. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Celik graduated from Ohio University (“go Bobcats!”). His hobbies include traveling and sports, and he’s always accepting Super Smash challenges on N64. His favorite fast food chain is Piada.

Bora Lee joins Knewton’s finance team as a senior financial analyst. She is originally from NYC and graduated from Georgetown University. Her favorite book is Franny and Zooey and her favorite TV show is The Big Bang. She’s still mourning the now-defunct Crumbs Bake Shop.

Atlanta native Lily Tong joins Knewton as the head of the Implementations team. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech and her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from MIT. In her free time, she enjoys kukuwa (“it’s like African dance jazzercise”), knitting, eating Asian food, and fermentation.

Software engineer Willy Hoang recently graduated from Harvard College. His favorite movie is Toy Story and his favorite TV show is Friends. In his free time, he’s working on learning how to cook. Originally from Los Angeles, Willy’s favorite fast food chain is In-N-Out.

Sharanya Venkatasubramanian joins Knewton as a software engineer. Originally from India, she graduated from P.E.S. Institute of Technology. Her favorite TV shows are Game of Thrones and House of Cards. Thursday is her favorite day of the week,and Shake Shack is her favorite fast food chain.

Chris Mueller is a recent Harvard graduate from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He joins Knewton as a software engineer. In his free time, he enjoys biking, chess, watching movies, DDR, playing piano, and running. His favorite month is October and his favorite movie is Lord of the Rings. He’s considering starting a blog all about puppies in NYC.
