Meet eight new Knerds!

Fernando Rodriguez-Villa, from Boston, joins Knewton as a Partnerships Manager. Before coming to Knewton, he attended Dartmouth, where he threw javelin and sang a cappella. He also worked in investment banking at J.P. Morgan. His favorite book is The Once and Future King. In his spare time, he enjoys binge-watching movie trailers.

Kaitlin Caruso is Knewton CEO Jose Ferreira’s new executive assistant. She is from Sacramento, and attended St. Mary’s College of California. Prior to Knewton, she was working with rappers, singers, and models at an entertainment firm. She enjoys soccer, reading, and trying new cocktail bars. Her biggest pet peeve is when people chew with their mouths open.

Alex Heitzmann joins Knewton as a Software Engineer on the Platform team. Originally from Rehoboth, Massachusetts, he attended Brown University, and eventually went to work for Microsoft. His favorite fast food chain is Dunkin’ Donuts; his favorite book is Ender’s Game; and his hobbies include squash, woodworking, and guitar.

Jon Thornton, from Saugerties, New York, is a Tech Lead on the Platform Team. Before Knewton, he was taking a sabbatical after stepping away from ParkWhiz, a startup he co-founded. He enjoys snowboarding and volunteer mentoring at the Academy for Software Engineering. If he could witness any event past, present, or future, it would be Woodstock 1969. Check out his blog!

Originally from Florida, Erin Case is an Adaptive Instruction Analyst. She attended the University of Florida and got her master’s from the University of Washington before coming to Knewton. Her favorite movies are When Harry Met Sally and Mean Girls, her favorite fast food chain is Waffle House, and her favorite month of the year is October.

Richard Hoop is a Lead Site Reliability Engineer on the Systems Team. Originally from Solomons Island, Maryland, he attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. He worked for Squarespace before coming to Knewton. His favorite book is The Power of Habit and he enjoys playing Super Smash Bros competitively.

Eva-Marie Olbers joins Knewton’s Business Development Team in the London office. She is from Germany and Luxembourg, attended London Business School, and previously worked as a management consultant at BCG. She also recently started a educational academy in Ghana that focuses on youth empowerment in West Africa. Eva has a weakness for spicy noodle soups.

John Verducci, a New Jersey native, joins Knewton as a System Administrator. His favorite day of the week is Tuesday, his favorite fast-food chain is Wendy’s, and his pet peeve is people who take the elevator to go fewer than four floors. If John could witness any future event he’d like to see Lebron bring the ring to Cleveland.
