ELTjam to develop Knewton-powered personalised test prep product for students taking the International English Language Training System (IELTS) exam
LONDON – May 6, 2015 – ELTjam, a leading consultancy and product development company in English Language Teaching (ELT), today announced a partnership with Knewton, the leader in adaptive learning. ELTjam will use Knewton technology to build an exam preparation course to prepare students for the writing paper of the International English Language Training System (IELTS) exam, which is the most commonly recognised English proficiency test.
“Writing is the lowest-scoring section of the IELTS exam across the board” said Jo Sayers, Head of Product, ELTjam. “We’ve devised a highly adaptive, fast, and efficient way to solve this problem through online training. With Knewton we can ensure students of all levels get better and more tailored support as they study and, ultimately, help more students get the IELTS scores they need.”
IELTS is the most widely used high-stakes English proficiency exam for higher education and migration, with over two million test takers each year. Students and professionals around the world take IELTS to gain internationally recognised proof of their language level in order to apply to universities and for jobs in English-speaking countries. Key markets for IELTS include China, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and the U.S. ELTjam’s Knewton-powered course is scheduled to launch in 2016. Together ELTjam and Knewton will continue to collaborate on best practices for personalising products for English language learners.
Publishers and education companies across 19 countries use Knewton adaptive learning technology to personalise content. Knewton analyses information as students learn with a digital textbook or interactive textbook, then recommends what to study next at any given moment. Instructors get Knewton-powered predictive analytics to better support each student.
“Knewton’s mission is to bring personalised learning to students everywhere,” said Knewton founder and CEO Jose Ferreira. “With ELTjam we can help more students and professionals across the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia get more tailored support as they learn English.”
