Initiative establishes new business model for creating and launching Knewton-powered products
LONDON – (January 21, 2016) – Gyldendal Denmark, Denmark’s major publisher of print and digital educational materials, has partnered with Knewton, the world’s leading adaptive learning company, and Gyldendal Norway to distribute personalized courses to students in Denmark.
Gyldendal Denmark will utilize Gyldendal Norway’s Smart Øving Powered by Knewton with students across Denmark. This new arrangement is the latest product of the relationship between Knewton and Gyldendal Norway, who have had a formal partnership since May 2014. It represents a new business model that allows for publishing companies to build adaptive products that leverage Gyldendal Norway’s platform and existing Knewton-powered content. Publishing companies working with Gyldendal Norway and Knewton now have the opportunity to launch adaptive learning solutions in less time and at a lower cost.
“We are very pleased with the partnership with Knewton and Gyldendal Norway. First of all, the co-operation means that the time to market for our first adaptive product has been shortened considerably,” said Mikael Pedersen, publishing director at Gyldendal Denmark. “Furthermore, the partnership means that even more pupils will use the product thus creating a richer dataset for Knewton to analyze and base individual recommendations upon. This will be a huge strength for the product.”
Knewton’s adaptive technology analyzes what each student knows and how they learn best and provides individualized content recommendations in real time to help more students master material. Gyldendal Denmark will also use Knewton-powered analytics to help teachers identify student needs, predict performance, and tailor instruction to best fit each student’s unique needs.
“We’re excited to continue this long-term strategic partnership with Knewton and expand our footprint into new countries with new partners,” said Alexander Henriksen, digital director of Gyldendal Education Norway. “There is significant demand from publishers with great content to utilise the platform that we’ve built and get that content to the students and teachers who need it.”
“We are proud to partner with Gyldendal Norway and Gyldendal Denmark to meet the growing demand for adaptive learning,” said Jose Ferreira, founder and CEO of Knewton. “This expanded partnership with Gyldendal Denmark not only marks Knewton’s continued growth, but paves the way for other partners, especially textbook publishers, to license and distribute existing adaptive products in new markets.”
Gyldendal Denmark joins a growing list of education companies around the world using Knewton’s adaptive platform. Knewton has provided more than 15 billion learning recommendations to more than 10 million students on every continent except Antarctica.
