NEW YORK – October 14, 2014 – Santillana, the leading education company in Spain and Latin America, announced today a partnership with the leading adaptive learning company Knewton. Santillana, which provides K-12 materials for students in 22 countries, will launch Knewton-powered adaptive learning products across Latin America and Spain. Using the Knewton platform, Santillana will offer personalized learning materials for students and predictive analytics for instructors for the primary and secondary grade levels. Knewton-powered adaptive features will first be available in Santillana’s course materials for secondary school math courses in Spring 2015.
“The expertise and knowledge of Knewton will provide us a long-term strategy to develop cutting-edge adaptive learning products across our portfolio, for every country we serve,” said Miguel Barrero, CDO of Santillana. “With Knewton, we can offer highly individualized and continuously updated recommendations for what students should study, while providing educators with powerful data and actionable analytics to better support each student.”
As students progress through Santillana’s digital course books, Knewton’s technology will analyze data to recommend exactly what each student should study next – helping to better engage each learner. Instructors will be able to access continuously updated analytics to quickly identify student needs and differentiate instruction.
“With Santillana, we’re taking a huge step in bringing Knewton-powered adaptive learning across Latin America and Spain, where there’s a rapidly maturing education market and an increasing demand for a more personalized learning experience,” said Jose Ferreira, Knewton founder and CEO. “Together we can help improve learning outcomes for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking students, while providing a more engaging learning experience.”
Santillana joins a growing list of top global publishers, universities, and schools partnering with Knewton to personalize digital courses.
Knewton‘s goal is to personalize lessons for students around the world. Education companies use Knewton technology to power course materials that dynamically adapt to each student’s unique needs. By analyzing data to figure out what a student knows, Knewton recommends what to study next, helping more students master material and get ahead. Knewton-powered analytics identify knowledge gaps and predict performance to help educators, parents, and administrators better support every student.
